If you haven’t already, treat yourself to the Denver Art Museum’s exhibit “Returning the Gaze,” which features almost 30 paintings from Denver-born artist Jordan Casteel, who is now based in New York. The exhibit is on view through Aug. 18.
I first toured the exhibit through an International Women’s Forum of Colorado event with Jordan’s mom, Lauren Y. Casteel, President and CEO of The Women’s Foundation of Colorado. I was so inspired that I returned for a second visit with friend David Scanavino — and made sure I was wearing the t-shirt: “I’m not interested in competing with anyone. I hope we all make it.”
That’s a message that resonates with me, too. It’s so important for women to celebrate and promote the success of other women.
