Cardan Co-Founding Partner Marti Awad also served on the World Denver Committee that organized the event under the banner theme, “Women in Technology: Building our Global Future.” More than 800 people attended, including Denver Mayor Michael Hancock; Colorado Gov. Jared Polis; nearly 100 girls from local middle and high schools; and prominent Colorado tech executives, such as Arrow Electronics Vice President of Americas & Asia Pacific Infrastructure Kim Brown Wilmsen, who judged the final round of The Big Pitch competition and shared advice with other women looking to succeed in the STEM field.

“I saw some great ideas, a lot of focus on mission and so much passion for developing and delivering products and services that are of genuine value and could really help improve the quality of a lot of people’s lives,” Brown Wilmsen said.

Helping to reinforce the message that it is important to educate, empower and engage women in the tech industry was keynote speaker Adriana Gascoigne, founder and chief executive officer of Girls in Tech, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization that seeks to encourage young women to enter tech fields through several initiatives, including local chapters, online learning and mentorship.

Thanks to all of the women who joined Cardan Capital Partners to make World Denver’s 2019 International Women’s Day Luncheon extraordinary.
